WAFA
While I was getting caught up in blogs and links this morning, I came across a group named WAFA, which stands for We Are Fucking Awesome. WAFA is a global artist collective dedicated to the support and development of emerging artists. They’re a network of working artists with members in Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, North Carolina, St. Paul, Sydney, Brighton, and Norwich.
Their website is http://main.wearefuckingawesome.org/ and they post pictures of each series of zines (self made publications), street art, collages, etc. So rad.
I think the use of city space is a great statement about the accessibility of art and the expression of a common public voice. In addition to those installations, some of WAFA’s artists pursue mail-art and self published zines. Getting art off the wall and into people’s hands, I love that.
Here are a few pieces that caught my eye.

“An ongoing project of curating original art work in the public space. Members of the collective send framed works to one artist, and that artist installs the works on the streets.”
